Thanks for the response to the post. You bring up an interesting point that I think a lot of people could benefit from. It’s true that a pond does not have to be a hassle. Indeed, it really shouldn’t be-it should be enjoyed. However, the issue that many people run into is that they wait until a problem is evident before taking any sort of action. Unfortunately, by the time a problem manifests itself visibly, you’re going to be facing an uphill battle with your pond. Now, some ponds are obviously easier to treat than others depending on the location and what type of runoff the pond receives. Like you said, though, continuous and preventative maintenance can be extremely beneficial in creating and sustaining a healthy pond environment.
